Zagreb

A bittersweet day in Zagrab included a visit here to the Stone Gate where a painting of the Virgin Mary escaped a huge fire in 1731. Now people come here to offer up their thanks and prayers which are inscribed on the walls.

Land of the falling lakes

This is Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of the most incredible places I have ever seen

Zadar

I finally found the Croatia I was looking for (and maybe this guy did too) here in Zadar. It was beautiful, relaxed, and friendly. The old town isn't overrun with tourist shops and there is a really nice hostel by the beach.

Cathedral of St James in Sibenik

71 of these stone faces can be found on the outside of the cathedral. Someone from here told me that they were the faces of the people who lived in the town when that part of the cathedral was being built.

The Roman ruins of Salona

The channel running through the photo was a covered aquaduct for bringing water into the city.
