The Met

NYC's Metropolitan Museum of Art is home to more Vermeers than any other single museum in the world. In fact NYC is a treasure trove of Vermeers, with 23% of his know paintings on display in just two museums. That's more than you'll find in all of Holland! All five of the Met's Vermeers are now on display in one room (sorry Mike), and I've now seen 27 of his paintings, 77% of his known surviving work.

Michelle waits patiently while I check out an exhibit on Ancient Mesopotamia.

Her favorite galleries were the Met's extensive collection of armor.

My favorite collection was these 4000 year old Egyptian models found buried in a tomb near Luxor. That these depict daily life as it was in Egypt 4000 years ago just blows my mind. I have never seen history brought to life like this before. No imagination is required, this is how it was. 4000 years!!!!
